President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović, Supported the Establishing of RECOM

VujanovicPODGORICA, December 12th, 2011 – The President of  Montenegro, Filip Vujanović, had a meeting with the delegation of the Coalition for RECOM consisting of the Humanitarian Law Center’s Executive Director, Nataša Kandić, a professor from the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo, Zdravko Grebo, President of the Independent Journalists’ Association of Vojvodina, Dinko Gruhonjić, Executive Director of the Centre for Civic Education from Podgorica, Daliborka Uljarević, and a journalist from Podgorica, Dragoljub Duško Vuković.

With this regard, the Presidency of Montenegro issued a press release stating that representatives of the Coalition agreed with President Vujanović that establishing facts about war crimes and other serious violations of human rights, as well as the establishing fates of persons who disappeared during the wars in the period 1991-2001 on the territory of the former Yugoslavia, is extremely important for countries in the region to come to terms with the past and initiate the reconciliation process.

On this occasion, RECOM delegation expressed the need to spread the process of establishing facts to state commissions, which would be established for this purpose.

Finally, the press release stated that President Vujanović emphasized the support for RECOM and openness towards exploring possible models for maintaining and accelerating this significant process.

“We have decided to start with our instigation to begin with the institutionalization process from here, from Podgorica, because of the very strong support that has followed our initiative and activities of the Coalition for RECOM from the very beginning, starting with the support of President Vujanović”, Nataša Kandić stated for “Analitika” news portal from Podgorica after the meeting with the President of Montenegro.
