Esteemed Mr. President,

We address you as the President of Serbia who can influence key decisions and state policies with his authority:

Emphasizing that the verdict of the International Court of Justice obliges Serbia to clearly distance itself from war crimes;

Reminding you that on January 15th 2009 the European Parliament adopted the Resolution on proclaiming July 11th the Day of Remembrance of the Srebrenica genocide;

Pointing out that, given the expressed political will of Serbian citizens that Serbia should become part of the European Union, this represents an obligation for our authorities;

Expressing firm belief that the respect and recognition of victims of the gravest of crimes and the beginning of building a collective memory which would include all victims of war crimes committed on the territory of the former Yugoslavia represents our collective obligation;

W e   d e m a n d

That you support the demand for July 11th to be recognized and marked in Serbia, as well, as Day of Remembrance of the Srebrenica genocide and its victims.
